Harris Teeter Super Doubles

Today marks the beginning of Super Doubles at Harris Teeter.  Normally, Harris Teeter doubles coupons with a face value of 99 cents or less every day.  During the week of Super Doubles, Harris Teeter doubles coupons with a face value of $2.00 or less.  Yes, a $2.00 coupon is worth $4.00!  That can really add up.

This morning I headed over to Harris Teeter before work.  It was a very pleasant time to shop as there were only a few shoppers and the shelves appeared to be well stocked.  I was also pleased that the sweet young fella that checked me out did not mind that I asked him to scan the coupons slow so that I could watch to be sure that every coupon doubled.  Every coupon doubled without incident!  The only thing that required a Manager was for an override due to the amount of savings that I ended up with!

I chose to shop for several items that we are brand loyal to.  These items are normally higher priced no matter where they are purchased.  I also decided to only shop one area of the store instead of multiple areas.  I think that I will stick with that approach in the future especially when I am unprepared as I was this morning.

Here is what I purchased:

(1) Always Radiant Panty Liner $4.79
(2) Kotex Pads $3.79 ea
(3) Tampax Pearl Tampons $5.29 ea
(3) Neosporin Max Ointment $5.99 ea
(1) Zest Body Wash $3.69
(1) Gold Bond Ultimate Lotion $7.45
(1) Gold Bond Ultimate Powder $5.59
(1) Gold Bond Medicated Powder $4.25
(1) Ban Invisible Solid Deodorant $2.99
(6) Gillette Deodorant $5.49 ea
(8) Met Rx Protein Bars $2.29 ea

After VIC and coupons, the total before tax was $38.40, the total savings was $81.84, and the average cost per item was less than $1.40 each!

I was especially pleased with the Gillette deodorant.  Without VIC or coupon savings, it would have been $31.74.  After VIC and coupon savings, it was $17.94.  (This also gives you an idea of what everything else cost after VIC and coupon savings........$20.46!)

I think that I may just have to forced to go back tomorrow!
