Isn't it great to be able to prepare your dinner for pennies per serving? Tonight for dinner, we had an Italian Dish that I made for almost nothing! I served it along with green peas and toast.
The Italian Dish that I prepared started out with tomato, basil, and pork sausages. After slicing and browning these, I added a can of Muir Glen Organic tomatoes, a jar of Ragu spaghetti sauce, and a handful of chopped bell peppers from the freezer. After simmering for a bit, this was served over Ronzoni Smart Taste spaghetti noodles.
You might be thinking........How was this prepared for pennies per serving? Simple.....with a little smart shopping!
The sausages were part of an Angel Food Ministries package (I'll post about that in a separate post.), the Muir Glen tomatoes, the Ragu, and the Ronzoni Smart Taste spaghetti noodles were all purchased for FREE using store sales combined with coupons! The bell peppers were purchased from reduced produce (see my earlier post about this), chopped, and frozen for later use. I can assure you that the garden peas and the bread and butter were also purchased for very little. Very few things come into our home having been purchased at full retail price!
It was a very nice, fun little meal for us..................and it was great to know that it was cheap yet delicious! There was also a nice amount left for lunches and snack!
